What is the Quran?

The Word of God

The Quran is the word of God, the Almighty, revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the Angel Gabriel.

“The revelation of The Book is from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.” (Quran 39:1)

“[This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted.” (11:1)

Guidance for Mankind

This [the Quran] is a clear declaration to mankind, a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah! (3:138)

These are the verses of the Book that make things clear. (12:1)

We have not sent down to you the Qur’an that you be distressed (20:2)
But only as a reminder for those who fear [ Allah ] – (20:3)

Indeed, We sent down to you the Book for the people in truth. So whoever is guided – it is for [the benefit of] his soul; and whoever goes astray only goes astray to its detriment. And you are not a manager over them. (39:41)

And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss. (17:82)

The Final Revelation

The Quran is the last Revelation sent by the Almighty God (Allah), confirming the previous scripture, refuting and correcting fabrications and additions.

He has revealed to you this Book with the Truth, confirming the scripture which preceded it, as He revealed the Torah (Taurat) and Gospel (Injeel) (3:3)
as a guidance for mankind and also revealed this Al-Furqan (Quran) [criterion for judgment between right and wrong]. Surely those who reject Allah’s revelations will be sternly punished; Allah is Mighty, capable of retribution. (3:4)
